Beach Photo Dump

About a month or so ago, I finally made it to the beach after 2 months of catching glimpses from the train as we rolled by. This beach is about a 20 minute bike ride from my apartment. It was so fun!!

Fish market.

Fish auction. It smelled so bad!!
It made me feel closer to home being on the beach, especially because the Pacific Ocean hits this coast. The water was so warm!!

Perks

Some days I really enjoy my job. Especially when I get to hear little boy giggles. Like Hank's

So this chocolate is amazing. Probably one of my new fave treats in Taiwan.

If I could, I would send some to everyone. Maybe for Christmas...

So this is a few days late, but I love it.

This bakery truck occasionally parks in front of my apartment. This photo is on the back door.

If you can't read the little plaque, it says "Happy Mother's Day".

I know my mother has always wanted a brassiere and panties cake to celebrate giving birth to Katie and I.

To tell you the truth, I feel kind of like a bad daughter for only getting her books and a greeting card the last few years...

Life's a Drag

All the public schools in Taiwan require uniforms. Most of the students in my P class (the 12 year-old's) go to different schools and have different uniforms. One school's colors are purple and yellow.

A few weeks ago, I turned around at the start of class and I nearly died. One of my male students, Hank, was wearing purple and yellow track pants, a purple turtleneck and, blue socks.

I immediately thought of one of my favorite British television show, Miranda. It is both delightful and slightly off-color. I've seriously never laughed so hard in my life. Love it.

Anyways, Miranda (seen below), gets asked out on a date and wants to buy a new dress, but she is very tall and a little bigger and can never find anything. Long story short, she ends up shopping at a drag shop (unbeknownst to her).

She walks back into her store wearing an entirely purple ensemble and her friend asks, "Miranda, why are you dressed like a transvestite?"

I wanted to say, "Hank, why are you dressed like a transvestite?" He wouldn't have understood the word anyways.

Seriously, though. It was amazing.

UPDATE: I found video! Watch 8:24-8:51. Hysterical!

It's Raining, It's Pouring, The Foreigner's Adore It.

A couple of weeks ago, Craig and I got caught in the rain on the way to hit up McDonald's at RT Mart after work. It was amazing. I love riding my bike in the rain. The air is crisp and the water is refreshing.

After we arrived, we of course had a quick photo shoot.

This trip also marks my first sighting of a student outside of class. I don't know if it was weirder for her or for me. It was quite the experience being on the other side of that scenario.

I remember when I spotted my (cute) sophomore history teacher working out at my gym. I don't think I went back for 2 months. Silly girl.

Slumber Snapshots

Sometimes these kids are adorable when they sleep.  I've caught some of them sleeping with their bums in the air, with one leg in and one leg out of their sleeping bags, some have had drool tracks on their cheeks, but these two shots are my favorite...

Beckham is one of the silliest and smartest boys in my class. He is pretty ridiculous. Look how far off his bed he is!

This shot of Nini was more dramatic in person. She was cocooned in her sleeping bag and the pillow was covering part of her head. Like I said-- adorable.
